Events

"Jazz en Tête" in the autumn, the International Short Film Festival in the winter, "Vidéoformes" in the spring: of the three main Clermont-Ferrand festivals, two are dedicated to images and one to music. In addition to local popularity, all these events have an excellent reputation further afield. The Short Film Festival is the oldest, most organised, most well known and has the largest number of visitors. It opened the way for the others, in particular to Vidéoformes, which is dedicated to video and, more generally, to arts which use new technologies. "Jazz en tête" led the way in choosing the profession’s rising stars. Other, more recent festivals fit in between these major events.

From a trade perspective, don’t miss the Cournon Fair, and SATCAR for automobile fans and professionals, both major regional events. Sport also has a major place, with Transmassif and the Andros Trophy.

International Short Film Festival

"The Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival is the most important cinematographic event in the world dedicated to short films. Audience numbers and the presence of professionals make this the second cinema festival in France, after Cannes.

Andros Trophy

This ice-racing rally takes place at the Super-Besse circuit (less than one hour south of Clermont-Ferrand)

This internationally known race is largely funded by Clermont council. 25,000 spectators attend each year.

Vidéoformes, International festival of video and multimedia arts

The Vidéoformes event revolves around two poles: The Festival itself, which lasts around a week, and the displays, which carry on for two weeks longer.

Vidéoformes is a cultural association for the distribution of video and multimedia-based artistic creations, and for the democratisation of access to new technologies.
