THE REGIONAL DAILY NEWSPAPER: LA MONTAGNE
28, rue Morel Ladeuil
63000 Clermont-Ferrand
Tel.: 04 73 17 17 17
Website: www.centrefrance.com

The time is 23:45. At 28, rue Motel Ladeuil, three rotary printing presses are coming to life.
3 hours later, they will have printed 250,100 copies of La Montagne. 13 different editions, with 4 for the Puy-de-Dôme department. On weekday nights, thirteen lorries (seventeen on Sundays) set off across the roads of the Massif Central, from Brive to Nevers, from Thiers to Limoges, to deliver to the main points of sale as well as newsstands, distributing the daily paper to more than 2,000 points of sale.
To achieve this, 207 journalists and 1,800 correspondents have gathered the information together and prepared the layout, which is then finalised by nearly 280 technicians prior to printing. With nearly 857 employees and a turnover of more than 13.9 million euros, La Montagne is one of the largest businesses in our region. From a regional newspaper perspective, the Centre France group, of which La Montagne is the flagship title, is one of the very largest publishers (number of copies: 352,000, 1,700 employees, turnover of more than 20.8 million euros). The group consists not only of regional dailies: Le Populaire du Centre (printed in Limoges), Le journal du Centre (printed in Nevers), Le Berry Républicain (printed in Bourges) ; but also weeklies: La Gazette de Thiers, La Voix du Sancerrois; a television division: Centre France Télévision; Radio stations: Centre France FM, Europe 2 programmes; two Centre France printing houses: IPC in Lezoux and Reix in Clermont-Ferrand ; a billboard company: Afficentre; and companies managed in partnership with Havas: Eurocom for consulting and advertising, Centre France-Havas Voyages and Centre France-Havas Publicité. Havas manages the advertising space for the Centre France Group's newspapers (except for Berry Républicain). Today, La Montagne is the key communication channel in our region, with one of the best readership penetration rates of French regional newspapers: 60.4 %. Every day in Clermont-Ferrand and the surrounding districts, 39,000 copies of the Clermont-Ferrand edition of La Montagne are sold, 260 points of sale sell nearly 21,000 copies, to which must be added the 7,000 copies received by subscribers and more than 11,000 which are delivered to letterboxes each morning before 7am by nearly 75 carriers.

Departmental information weekly
Came into being on 27 September 1944, as a direct successor to the Croix d'Auvergne paper founded in 1891, le Semeur Hebdo is the oldest departmental news title in the Puy-de-Dôme.
Fully independent of any political or financial power, this paper's goal, with its 360 press correspondents, is to bring a different perspective to reporting on local, departmental and regional life.
A member of the Association Nationale de la Presse Catholique de Province (French National Association of Provincial Catholic Newspapers) and one of the driving forces behind the Syndicat de la Presse Hebdomadaire Régionale (Weekly Regional Press Union) this paper has been successful in opening Clermont-Ferrand's doors to sister publications by organising national meetings of the weekly press, the Franco-German meeting of journalists and advertisers, and a yearly meeting of the editors of newspapers which are members of Médias Centre Est.
Whether in the cultural, social, associative, political or economic fields, each important event which might impact the people of Clermont-Ferrand is appropriately reported in le Semeur-Hebdo which works every Friday to earn the right to use its slogan "the weekly which talks about you".
With more than six hundred communiqués from associations each week, le Semeur-Hebdo, like all members of the Presse Hebdomadaire Régionale (Weekly Regional Press), is an indispensable link in the improvement of the region. As verified by Diffusion Contrôle (newspaper circulation agency), 12,500 copies are produced each week. It is sold on newsstands and by subscription.

Un, Deux, Quatre… Racont'art
That's the title of one of the sections in the new format Un, Deux… Quatre, a symbol of the review's outstanding progress, it now focuses fully on the arts. Searching the four corners of France, but not forgetting his birthplace, the Auvergne, this independent publisher, based in Clermont-Ferrand, casts an enthusiastic eye over artists, designers, comic book authors, writers, actors, directors, musicians, in fact, anybody who has a different, original, rebellious outlook on our modern world. Leaving to one side the pits of criticism, trendy temples and Parisian clans, his goal is to humbly become the spokesman for intellectuals on all sides, to speak out for the people who stop things from just going around in circles. The review is well produced and laid out, it's a shame that Un, Deux… Quatre is only produced four times a year!
